aka Dwarf Apricot

A beautiful little dwarf Apricot that as well as being highly ornamental tempts us with delicious fruit. The golden yellow fruits are are a good size and taste delicious, very sweet and juicy. Copes well with warmer climates but as with all apricots does like some winter chill. Deciduous. Self-Fertile.

aka Boysenberry

A great Boysenberry to grow as it has less thorns and has berries with an outstanding flavour. Grow in a sunny sheltered position and provide horizontal support. Prune in winter and remember Boysenberries are Floricanes and fruit on 2nd year canes . Ripe around January-February. Deciduous.

aka Sweet Cherry

Sweet Cherry. This heritage variety of Cherry is one of the largest and juciest with firm dark red fruit that are sweet and delicious. Good resistance to skin splitting and a reliable producer. Fruits in warmer areas of New Zealand, ripening Mid-late season (January). Self fertile. Deciduous.

Etrog is the yellow citron used by Jews during the week long holiday of Sukkot, as one of the four spices. A majestic tree the fruit looks like a knobby lemon and sometimes ribbed. The fruit is very aromatic and has a very thick rind. It has very small segments and many many seeds. Evergreen.

Citrus. This Australian variety has large, good quality, pale yellow fruit that mature from November through to March. The fruit has thin skin and very juicy flesh with a mild flavour. Usually has a bumper crop every 2nd year i.e. has biennial tendencies but we won't hold that against it. Evergreen.

Citrus. This lemon comes from Australia where it was grown from seed sent from Portugal way back when. One for the lemon connoisseur, deliciously juicy, fragrant fruit with a thick skin. Very productive and vigorous with good cold tolerance though it prefers a warm sheltered spot. Evergreen.

Citrus. NZ's most popular lemon and deservedly so. Very juicy and a really good cropper. Once established the tree will seldom be without a lemon. More tolerant of cold than many other lemons. Can you feel a Gin and Tonic coming on? Happiest in a sunny well drained position. Evergreen.

aka Limequat

Citrus. An interesting Citrus that is a cross between a Lime and a Kumquat hence the name. Excellent bearing properties with regular heavy crops of oval lemon fruit that are juicy, acidic and full of Vitamin C. Can be grown in a container or in the garden in a sunny well drained position.

aka Mandarin Lime

Citrus. Mandarin Lime. This Citrus has a bit of an identity crisis in that it looks like a Mandarin but tastes like a lime. It hails from India and its a vigorous grower with light green foliage and relatively few thorns. The fruit is considered superior for marmalade production. Evergreen.

Citrus. The fruit is usually flattened with a thin, smooth, orange rind that is easy to peel. The fruit is low-seeded in the absence of cross-pollination. The flesh is orange-coloured and juicy, with a rich and sweet flavor. Evergreen.

This Mandarin is very popular in Queensland where it was discovered as a chance seedling in 1888. The virtually thorn-less tree produces large fruit with a thin easy peel skin. Ripens around July. If left on the tree you will notice the skin gets 'puffy'. Evergreen.

As with all Citrus make sure you cut the fruit off the tree rather than just pull. Your Mandarin will grow well in a warm, well drained fertile spot in the garden with protection from harsh frost. Also suitable for container growing with regular feeding and watering. Citrus Information Pages

Citrus. Satsuma. An easy peel, medium sized variety with flattened fruit with a high sugar content. Almost Seedless. Ripens May/June, harvest when fruit in full colour. Needs a warm sunny position to sweeten fruit. Remember always cut the fruit off with sharp secateurs. Evergreen.

This freestone Nectarine has gained world-wide popularity. The skin is smooth, glossy and toned bright red over yellow. The golden flesh has a rich flavour, juicy and sweet. Ripens around mid Feb. Plant in a warm sunny spot in well drained soil. Suitable for warmer areas. Self Fertile. Deciduous.

This highly ornamental Nectarine has pink spring blossom and purple-green summer foliage. Along with that you get delicious sweet Nectarines with purple skin and cream coloured flesh. What a combination. Grows well all NZ. Discovered in the Waikato and named after the founder - Mabel. Deciduous.

aka Blood Orange

Citrus. Blood Orange. 'Tarocco' is a highly rated dessert orange which is very high in Vitamin C. The skin is of medium thickness and easy to peel and the red coloured flesh is seedless, sweet, juicy and fragrant. The fruit is of a medium size and slightly oval. Rated Evergreen.

Naturally grown in semi- and tropical regions, Blood Oranges required cool nights with daytime warmth with plenty of sunshine hours for the fruit to show "blood" colours. As trees mature the fruit colour is enhanced. Citrus Information Pages

aka aka Sanguine

A stunning peach with a dark wine coloured outer and inner. The rich, juicy, textured flesh is absolutely delicious. One of my favourites. If there are any left over after raiding the tree (which I doubt) they also bottle well. Low chill requirement so is suitable for most areas in NZ. Deciduous.

NZ's favourite peach. As the name suggests this is the Queen of peaches with firm, tasty, golden yellow flesh. Great for bottling or eating straight from the tree. Crops well, ripens in late February/March. Cling-stone. Low chill requirement so is suitable for most areas in NZ.

aka Hybrid Plum

AKA Omega. Produces high quality fruit with red speckled skin and juicy red flesh. The fruit ripens around February. Partially self-fertile but better with a partner. Use Santa Rosa or Duffs Early Jewel. Free-stone. Deciduous.
